Kiss- Vinnie Vincent: Ankh Warrior

Early Work: Kiss Fan Comic

I dug up this old comic cover I created as a kid and thought since I was doing Kiss sketches it would be fun to post it. If you don't know Kiss fans are usually referred to as The Kiss Army. At the time I thought it would be cool if the members of Kiss both past and present all joined together to form an army to fight evildoers. Then I basically ripped off the concept to the classic 80's cartoon and toy line M.A.S.K. and gave them all transforming armored vehicles and masks in the style of there respective make-up. I even designed a few new persona's for members who joined after Kiss took off the make-up. Enjoy and don't judge to harshly. I was just a kid after all.

Kiss- Peter Criss- The Cat

My Peter Criss Costume

Here's an old picture of me dressed up as Peter Criss. I don't even think this was for Halloween. We used to just dress like Kiss characters, ride our bikes and pretend to fight baddies. The cat was aways my favorite character. At that age I imagined Kiss as more of a super hero team than a rock band. Don't ask me about the cardboard guitar. I guess a drum kit would have been a little to hard to fit on a bike.

Kiss- The Demon Color

Halloween- 2008

In my world Kiss plus Halloween equals awesome. In keeping with the Kiss theme I figured I'd post this pic of me dressed as Gene Simmons from a couple of Halloweens ago. It Might be fun to do sketches of all the costumes I've worn over the years.

Kiss- Gene Simmons: The Demon

Tools: Waterbrush

For this new series of sketches I am putting aside my traditional sable brush and ink and testing out a waterbrush which I filled with Higgin's Black Magic. It has it's limitations, but there are some pluses too. Even though I can't get as precise a line with the waterbrush it saves some time not having to dip the brush in the inkwell in dragging the brush to remove excess ink. It is also quite portable. So I think I will be using the water pen for sketches and reserve the sable for my comic book pages.
